The Romy sewing pattern can be made as a top or a short A-line dress. It offers two versions: a simple one and one with a scalloped hem. It's a simple design with beautiful finishes to wear all year round. For the dress, you can choose a lined finish or opt for a facing.

You can easily pair it with a nice pair of open-toed shoes in summer, or wear it as a pinafore dress in autumn/winter layered over your favorite blouses.

What sizes are available?

The Romy sewing pattern has a different size range than usual (32 to 50 / 2 to 20) as, exceptionally, this model is available from 32 to 42 (2 to 12). Why this difference? Its cut does not allow it to adapt beyond size 42 (12). So I preferred to reduce the size range rather than offer a model whose result would not be convincing.

You can find the size guide further down on this page.

You also have the necessary instructions to make the following adjustments:

  • Reduce or increase the length of your garment.
  • Adapt the sewing pattern if you are between sizes. (Since this model has an A-line cut, it is not really necessary to make this type of modification. I recommend choosing your size based on your bust measurement.)

Are seam allowances included?

Seam allowances are included. They are 1 cm (0.39 in) throughout the pattern, except at the hems where they vary depending on the version sewn. This is specified in the assembly instructions.

What type of fabric should I choose for Romy?

For this pattern, I recommend a woven fabric with a weight ranging between 130 and 300 g/m² (3.83 and 8.85 oz/yd²).

For a winter version, you can use fabrics with more body, such as corduroy, denim, or wool. For a more summery version, you can use lighter fabrics like cotton or linen.

To help you choose the right fabric, you will find some ideas for ideal fabrics in the booklet ❤️

What materials do I need to complete my project?

You can find the exact list of supplies needed to make Romy at the bottom of this page.

In what formats is the Romy pattern available?

You will receive the pattern in A4, US Letter, A0, and Projector formats, with layers enabled to select the size you wish to print using Adobe Acrobat Reader.

The Projector format comes in two versions: one for light fabrics and one for dark fabrics.

You will also have an instruction booklet that will guide you step-by-step through the sewing process with detailed diagrams.

Since the Romy pattern is free, the envelope format is not available.

What is layer management?

Layer management is an option included in all Evelyne Patterns sewing patterns, regardless of their format, which allows you to print only the sizes you want.

This is possible thanks to the use of Adobe Acrobat Reader, available for free online.

Instructions on how to use the layers are provided in the instruction booklet.
